2021 Sweet Springs Library Policy
To Obtain an Adult Library Card
A patron must have at least one of the following, as proof of residence, to get a new library card:
Valid driver’s license showing current address, checkbook with current address or current tax or rent receipt or bill with current address. If the patron has no phone at their personal residence, or a street address, directions to their residence must be provided. (For example, rr 1 box 25 is not sufficient).
To Obtain a Juvenile Library Card
- A parent’s signature is required for all children under the age of 17 (unless applicant is married)
- The parent signing the application must have a current Sweet Springs Library card or provide the same proof of residence as for an adult library card.
If parents or siblings have overdue materials at the library, no card will be issued. There is a limit of three books that can be checked out by an individual on a new card, or a total of five books per family. The librarian will make the decision as to when more books can be checked out. Patrons’ signature on the card shows that they agree to follow all library rules.
Overdue policy
All materials are checked out for two weeks. They may be renewed at any time. Patrons will be required to pay for lost or damaged books.
If the patron refuses to return materials after two months, the city police will collect the books and the library card will be cancelled. If the patron lives outside the city limits, a bill will be sent for the cost of overdue library materials. All library privileges including internet usage will be denied for the entire family until the overdue materials are returned or the bill has been paid.
Patrons will be responsible for books they leave in the drop box. Books should have a rubber band around them or be placed in a bag. If the librarian does not find the book in the box the patron must pay for it.
If patrons do not follow these rules, the library reserves the right to cancel any library cards.
